It's Time To Forget Petron Key To Lamborghini: 10 Reasons Why You Don't Really Need It

Lamborghini Enters the World of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs)

After a series of social media posts hinting at it, Italian supercar maker Lamborghini finally announced its NFT (non fungible token) Project. It's called Space Key and developed in collaboration with an unknown artist and inspired by a piece advanced carbon fiber composite material that was sent to the International Space Station for research purposes.

Created in collaboration with NFT PRO(tm)

Italian supercar maker Lamborghini is dipping its toes into the world of non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The new project - called the Space Key - is a piece of art made in collaboration with a lone artist. The unique NFT is a tangible item which connects to a unique digital artwork that can be accessed via an QR code printed on the back. The project is limited to five pieces and will be auctioned in the coming weeks.

The Space Key is made from carbon fiber composite material that Lamborghini smuggled to the International Space Station in 2019 as part of an investigation project. The carbon fiber was then crafted into a unique artwork after it returned to Earth. The physical element has an NFT serial code that links to the digital artwork via QR code printed on the back.

For  TheKeyLab  who aren't in the aware, NFTs are unique identification numbers that are stored on a distributed blockchain ledger that is linked to digital assets such as a picture, video, music or other record. This allows owners to guarantee authenticity and traceability of tokens via the internet.

Lamborghini takes this unique approach to art a step further by working with NFT PRO, an white label NFT solution for businesses. Over the next few weeks, Lamborghini will release details about this exciting project, including the name of the unidentified artist as well as a timeline for the auction.

The physical element of the Space Key

Following a string of social media posts that tease something space-themed, Italian supercar maker Lamborghini has stepped into the realm of tokens that are not fungible (NFT) by launching an exclusive project called Space Key. The NFT was developed in collaboration with an unknown artist and will be auctioned off in just a few weeks. Its core is a piece composed of a high-tech carbon fibre composite material, which was delivered to the International Space Station in 2019 as part of a research project. The carbon fiber has been 3D printed to create the base of each Space Key, which is linked with an exclusive, digital artwork using the QR code printed on its backside. Only five Space Keys were produced.

NFTs are unique identifiers that can be recorded on distributed ledgers, such as the Blockchain and tied to a digital asset such as pictures. This is a hot topic for those with more money than they have common sense. So it was only a question of time before automakers decided to take advantage of.

Space Key is made up of five parts. It was designed using a carbon fiber composite, which was delivered to the ISS back in 2019. Each NFT will be connected to an exclusive digital artwork created by the same artist through a QR code on the backside of the carbon fiber component. More details will be made available in the coming weeks and days including the artist's name, the digital artwork and how to purchase one of the five Space Keys.

The digital artwork

After weeks of social media posts that hinted at it, luxury automobile maker Lamborghini finally announced its first venture for non-fungible tokens (NFT). The Space Key is a collection of five physical items which allows you to access an exclusive digital work by a yet to be identified artist. The "collectors' piece" was created in collaboration with NFTPRO(tm) and is limited to just five units. It is scheduled to be auctioned in the near future.

Each Space Key contains a block comprised of the most advanced carbon-fire composite material, which was sent to the International Space Station as part of a research project for 2019. After returning to Earth the block was engraved using a QR codes that connect to the digital element of the Space Key.

Each of the five Space Keys features a different moment that takes place at different times as the Lamborghini Ultimae takes off towards the stars. Each of the five images was filmed by photographer Fabian Oefner and contains over 600 million pixels.

Oefner used an inflatable camera with lenses to capture the individual images, which were then added to the final picture. The result is an amazing out of the world image that reveals the beauty of the Earth as well as the futuristic, hyper-realistic view of the car rising away from it. The Space Keys will be auctioned off in the near future, but the exact date and time of the event hasn't been set yet.

The auction

Lamborghini the luxury automaker has entered the world of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) with the slogan "to the moon". The project was created in collaboration with NFTPRO(tm). The Space Key is an NFT that contains composite carbon fiber material that was actually transported to the International Space Station for research purposes in 2019. The actual sample was shaped into five unique pieces that connect to exclusive digital artworks created exclusively by an artist who has not yet been announced through the QR code.

The auctions, which will take place between February 1 through February 4, last for 75 hours and 50 minutes - the same time it took Apollo 11 to leave Earth and enter the lunar orbit. The five NFTs are available for bidding by making an online registration. Each will be sold in a separate auction and the winner will receive a digital image made by renowned photographer Fabian Oefner, which captures the five distinct moments the Space Key passed during its journey through space.

Over the next few weeks, we will reveal all the details about the Space Key as well as the digital artworks that go with it. This includes the identity of the unidentified creator as well as the method of purchasing these incredible creations. Follow Lamborghini on Instagram for all of the information you need!
